There are many ways to block your caller id, some are more effective than others. The most traditional way to block caller id is to use the standard star codes. Almost every phone company, including the cellular carriers, will list your number as private if you dial *67 before the number. If you’re using a land line, the proper way to do this is to dial *67, the dial tone will “blink” at you, then just dial the number as you normally would. The number will show up as “Private” on caller ID. If you want to do it with your cell phone, just type in *67 before you put in the rest of the number and hit the send button. This will block the caller ID information from going through. This does not mean your call is untraceable, just that the person will not be able to see your number.
If you’re looking for a little bit more of a robust system, you should consider spoofing your caller ID. For as little at $6/hour, you can have any phone number you’d like. Imagine being able to call someone from 411. Imagine being able to send your home number instead of your cell phone number. Imagine being able to call someone as themselves. This is the power that you have when you block your caller ID with SpoofCard. You can try it free on their website. Click Here.
